Southeast Hospital teaches skin care to children.

The dermatology service has conducted a workshop with atopic dermatitis patients.

The Southeast Hospital has conducted a workshop to teach children from 3-8 years of atopic skin care and how to cope with this enfemedad in their daily lives.

The workshop, which involved patients of the Dermatology Service, aims to involve children, through games with characters and interactive exercises to achieve a proper hygiene and hydration of the skin.

In addition, Southeast Hospital professionals have been transmitted to the participants how to deal with the itching and scratching alternatives to the skin (cold application, hydration, etc.).. This activity has the support of Avène Laboratories.

Atopic dermatitis is a disease that involves a reaction of the skin condition characterized by itchy rashes and scaly-looking, more common in children, multifactorial, which involves both environmental and constitutional factors.

With this type of initiatives Southeast Hospital aims to provide practical advice to facilitate skin care for children, so become aware of the importance of good practices through activities and games.

The health center was launched last summer a Pediatric Dermatology, with the objective of serving the dermatological disease of children in their reference population and avoid transfer to other public hospitals in the community with this feature.

Since its opening until May 31, 2011, the Pediatric Dermatology has served 374 children.
