Like adults, children need exercise. Most children need at least one hour of physical activity every day. Regular exercise helps children to:
* Feel less stressed
* Feel better about themselves
* Be more prepared to learn in school
* Maintain a healthy weight
* Develop and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints
* Sleep better at night
As children spend more time watching television, they spend less time to run and play. Parents should limit their time watching television, video games and computer. Parents should set a good example by being active too. Exercising together can be fun for everyone. Competitive sports can help children have a good physical condition. Walking or cycling to school, dancing, bowling and yoga are other forms of exercise for children.
